Shelby County Players, Inc. is a non-profit organization. Unfortunately, the many expenses of producing live performances and maintaining Shelby Community Theater as our home cannot be supported solely through ticket receipts. 2004 has been a particularly challenging year. We do not have the funds needed to pay the operating expenses on our building as well as the ever-mounting expenses of play production. It is unfortunate that ticket receipts pay only a portion of our costs. We are reluctant to raise ticket prices because we feel that many people in our audience could not afford to attend if we did. We have applied for several grants, and our new Board of Directors is working on some ambitious ideas for fundraising. In the meantime, however, we have bills that we have no money to pay.
We are asking you to make a tax-deductible contribution to Shelby County Players, Inc. If you are able to make a contribution in any amount, we would be very grateful. We hope you feel as we do that our group provides an important cultural experience in a community where the arts often seem forgotten. We try to produce five plays each year, which provides a varied and exciting menu of theater experiences for actors, crew members, and audience members.
For your donation, your name or company name will be listed in the programs for our productions for one year, and donors of $50 or more will receive gift certificates for free tickets to the show of their choice. Please send checks to the following address or contact Managing Director B.J. Fairchild-Newman at 317-398-7798 or 317-392-4171 or Treasurer Alice Clapp

Shelby Community Theater is always interested in receiving donations of good usable furniture and period clothing. We are usually in need of one or more of the following for every production: couches, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, desks, side chairs, portable bar, bookshelves, dining room table and chairs, mirrors, lamps, and chandeliers, as well as good usable men's and women's hats, handbags, coats, men's and women's suits, bathrobes and formals.
If you have items you would like to donate, please call B.J. Fairchild-Newman at 317-398-7798 or the theater at 317-392-6844 so that we can make arrangements to view the items and pick them up. We cannot accept worn out or unusable items.
We also need secure, clean and dry storage space for larger items. If anyone has space they can donate, please let us know. We would need access to the area at all times. Your help is greatly appreciated!
