How many people make up the Shelby County Players?

About 100 people are members of the Shelby County Players. Approximately 20-25 members and volunteers are actively involved in productions at various times.

How can I become a member?

Anyone wishing to become involved in quality, live theater may join the Shelby County Players. Simply contact Managing Director B.J. Fairchild-Newman at 317-398-7798 and come prepared to read a script. No experience is required - only a love for theater!

Do I have to pay dues?

No, members of the Shelby County Players do not have to pay dues. Shelby County Players is supported by ticket receipts, donations, and grants.

How can My Business become a Corporate Sponsor?

If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, simply contact any one of the board members. Your business' name will be featured prominently on all of our advertising and you will be mentioned at each production. The fee to become a corporate sponsor is $1,000 for a production. Each production runs two weeks. Past Sponsors have been, Indiana Downs, Major Hospital, Knauf Insulation , Morristown Manor, Waldron Health Care Home, Wandering Brook Photographic Design, Williams Industries, Mathies Landscaping and Lee & Rose McNeely & Mike & Wendy Stephenson .

Do I have to be a theater student or professional?

Anyone may become involved in a Shelby County Players production either as an actor or crew member. No experience is required.

What positions are available other than acting?

There are lots of jobs available to anyone wanting to help the theater. Every production needs help with lights, prop building, sound, and costume design, among other jobs.

Where is the theater located?

Shelby County Players resides at the Shelby Community Theater at 16 S. Tompkins St. in Shelbyville, Indiana.
